Directions:

  • Have your child scoop Greek yogurt into a measuring jug and pour into a bowl.
  • Give your child a 1/4 teaspoon and help them scoop and count out the correct amount of each spice to add to the yogurt.
  • Have your child wash the chives and/or parsley under running water, pat dry with a towel, then cut with child-safe scissors and add to the yogurt mixture.
  • Cut the lemon in quarters, then let your child squeeze it over the ingredients.
  • Mix together and serve immediately or refrigerate for 30 minutes to let the flavours develop.

Party Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 6 eggs
  • 3 to 4 TBS mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Chives

Directions:

  • Hard boil the eggs.
  • Once cooled, show your child how to peel the shell off the egg.
  • Using a child-safe knife, let your child slice the eggs in half lengthwise then scoop out the yolk.
  • Give your child a fork to use to mash the yolk in a bowl.
  • Have your child add the mayonnaise and mustard to the yolk and stir.
  • Show your child how to scoop the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
  • With child-safe scissors, have your child cut the chives and sprinkle on top of the eggs.

Variations:

  • Mayonnaise and mustard free version – Let your child slice the hard boiled eggs with an egg slicer, then using a small cookie cutter, cut a shape out of the egg yolk.

Tortilla Roll

Ingredients:

  • Small flour tortilla
  • Cream cheese or other suitable spread
  • Any sliced deli meat
  • Cheese of your choice

Directions:

  • Have your child spread cream cheese on a tortilla using a child-safe butter knife.

  • Have your child place a thin layer of deli meat on the cheese.
  • Show your child how to roll the tortilla up and cut it into bite-sized pieces with a child-safe knife.
